Anti - Syphon (Silentraps) and Resealing Traps - 75mmWater Seals

Anti - Syphon Traps (Silentraps)
For basins, sinks & baths

 General:

The Silentrap by Drawing air through the valve neutralises syphonic pressure before it reaches the seal of hte Trap and therefore provides the equalent of a ventilated system without installation of costly and unsightly ventilation pipes.

The silentrap has been most rigorously tested and will not unseal, even under the most abnormal conditions.

The silentrap should continue to be effective irrespective of the distance between the appliance and the soil pipe.

 Operation:

Whenever syphonic conditions develop, the negative pressure causes the valve to rise thereby allowing air to be drawn into the discharge pipe thus neutralising the pressure. Simultaneously, with the cessation of the syphonic action, the valve closes to make the silentrap air and wateright.

 No Gurgling:

The major advantages of the Silentrap over Resealing Traps is that because the air is drawn through the valve and not through the water seal, gurgling is eliminated.

 Quieter Discharge:

During discharge, air is drawn into the system through the valve, thereby neutralising syphonic action and ensuring a quieter flow.

Resealing Bottle Traps
For basins & sinks

 General:

The Resealing Bottle Trsp (illustrated above) is an alternative to the Silentrap and may be used in similar circumstance.

 Operation:

The diagram above shows the automatic hydraulic action which allows air to be drawn through the inlet of the trap and through the by-pass columns when the trap is subject to syphonic conditions thus breaking the sypon action.

On cessation of syphonic conditions the remaining water falls back to reseal the trap.

The silentrap ventilates by drawing air through a non-return valve whereas the resealing trap ventilates by drawing air through the inlet of the trap and through the water seal.

 Advantages:

The simple non-mechanical action ensures retention of adequate water seal even under extreme syphonic conditions and eliminates the need for secondary ventilation.

Washing Machine Traps (1 1/2" diameter x 75mm water seals)

Washing Machine Traps provide the facility to accept the discharge from a washing and/or diswashing machine and are
suitable for new and exiting installations.

In all cases a blank cap or plug (or blank nozzle) is provided which means that should the appliance not be connected at the time of installation of the Trap, the Trap will function as a normal for the future installation of an appliance.

The TeeVent System, which incorporates a non-return valve, provides an air break and enables the waste system to be sealed. This system has the advantage over a standpipe arrangment in that should a blockage occur, the non-return valve
prevents flooding.

TeeVent fittings may be used with washing machine traps WM1, WM2 an WM4

Utilising Sink Trap (Appliance Close to Sink)

Not Utilising sink trap (Dedicated Trap)

Twin Connector for plumbing two domestic appliance discharge hoses into Standpipe Trap

  • Multi Outlet to suit either 1 1/2" or 40mm Standpipe.
  • 135o Swivel Nozzles for washing and/or diswashing machine discharge hoses- supplied with blanking plugs.
  • Discharge hoses to be taken to the height stated by the appliance manufacturer.
  • An air break, as specified by appliance manufacturer is incorporated within  the connector.

Air Admittance Valves (Ventapipe)

VP50 and VP100
Application:

Ventapipe 50 and Ventapipe 100 Air Admittance valves are for
use in
above ground drainage systems. They are designed to:

(a) prevent the release of foul air
(b) admit air under conditions of reduced pressure in the
    discharge pipes
and stack
(c) be used internally

Advantages:

1.Enable ventilating pipe to be terminated inside the
   building thereby
avoiding roof penetration.
2.Allow greater flexibility in design of new systems.
3.Allow greater flexibility when installating addtitonal
  appliance to
existing systems.
4.Eliminates problems of freezing associated with
  external pipes. Suitable
for use with either plastic
  or metal pipes.

5.Offer cost savings in both material and labour.

Operation:

The two diagram illustrate how Ventapipe 100 functions.

The valve diaphragm lifts and allow air to be drawn
into the system when
it is subjected to negative
pressure. On cessation of negative pressure
the diaphragm
returns to the closed position thereby preventing the

escape of foul air into the building.
The valve is designed to open and close spontaneously
when required thereby
allowing a supply of air to
adequately ventilate the system thus ensuring a

smooth discharge.

Approval:

Ventapipe 50, Ventapipe 100 and Ventapipe 100N carry Agrement certificate number 97/3354

VP15 and VP25
Application:

Ventapipe 15 and Ventapipe 25 air admittance valves can be used as alternative
to Anti-Syphon and Resealing Traps to
ventilate the waste pipe system in order to
overcome problems such as noisy discharge or loss of trap seal caused by indused
or
self-syphonage.

Advantages:

1.Particulary advantageous when installing additional appliance to existing waste pipe

2.Ventapipe must be fitted vertically and should be sited in close proximity to the appliance.
3.Mutifit Outlet for connection to either plastic or metal wast pipe.

Operation:

Ventapipe 15 and Ventapipe 25 function in a similar manner to VP100.
